2024 Organized Play Crowns Another Back-to-Back Champ

Congrats to Jason Schultz.  He was in the driver's seat with only the WBC really in play and he took care of business.  Winning WBC took Jason from probably the champ to running away with it.

Jason is now the 3rd consecutive, back-to-back champion in organized play.  Fellow, back-to-backers Don Tatum and Stephen  Peeples finished 2nd and 3rd this year.  And fellow champ Michael Polcen finished 4th.

Jason and Don were the only drivers to win multiple tournaments this season.  The big difference in their scores is that Jason won two of the biggest events while one of Don's wins was a smaller event.

Thanks to all who raced this year in a OP event (111 of you) and I hope to see you all for the 2025 season -- which is already underway.

Steward(s) of the Year

Stewards are crucial to the existence of every single series that comprise the Organized Play calendar.  So when I received two unsolicited and detailed nominations for Steward of the Year, I decided that they should both receive the coveted honor.  With only some light editing, I'll let the nominations speak for themselves.

Jim Marvin started running Redscape PBEM series races in Season 3 (2016-17). He created the Redscape Race of Champions that compiles one lap of each track from a season for the top six drivers. He just started RROC IX. Jim is the consummate professional, always publishing turns on time and with concise write-ups. Not CFR related, but for the past five years, he has GM’d over 20 PBEM Gunslinger games at Redscape.

When CFR did not make the WBC century Jack Beckman stepped up in a huge way and sponsored the tournament.  He was reimbursed for much of the $ but he deserves consideration for that.  Then I started looking at it and between your series (P1, etc...) and Redscape he stewards 6 PBEM races every year.  That is at least as much and anyone else.  But also he stewards the Detroit live races.  He has given a lot to the community for many years and deserves recognition.

Thanks to both Jim and Jack.  They are absolutely stewards of the game.

Rookie of the Year

Scott Herbert was the class of the rookies this year.  With a 4th place finish in Clark, he just missed getting promoted.

Most Improved

Brad Holcomb moved up from 93rd last year to 28th in his second Organized Play season -- a jump of 65 spots -- after winning Clark this year.

Honorable mentions to Zach Hudson and John Welage.  Zach also saw a big jump in year 2, going from 117th to 66th this season.  John is a long-time driver who broke into the top 20 for the first time in Organized Play.
